Carolina Alumni Review
It's critical to the University's success that alumni stay well-informed about Carolina's achievements and challenges. The GAA's award-winning Carolina Alumni Review brings members comprehensive Carolina coverage every other month.

Student Enrichment
From day one, the GAA nurtures our newest Tar Heels. The GAA co-sponsors a variety of student orientation events, supports student-led organizations and offers a comprehensive student membership program.

Carolina Clubs
At nearly 1,000 events in approximately 100 locations, Carolina alumni and friends enjoy enrichment events with UNC faculty, socialize, network, cheer on the Heels and provide service to their communities. Carolina Clubs are supported by GAA member dues and are led by local volunteers.

Recruitment
To remain among the nation's best public universities, it's vital that Carolina attracts the best and brightest young minds. The GAA does its part by sponsoring alumni admission volunteers, Shadow Days for high school juniors and Admitted Student Receptions.

Alumni Career Services
The GAA provides services to assist in career management and career change. A certified career coach is on staff to help alumni craft resumes that get results, negotiate that much-deserved raise or promotion, and build effective networks.

Scholarships
The Association's $550,000 GAA Scholars endowment helps Carolina attract the best and brightest students. In addition, 36 students from 19 local Carolina Club regions were awarded scholarships by their club for the 2008-09 academic year.

Keeping alumni connected to Carolina and to their classmates is the GAA's mission. GAA members have 24/7 access to an array of online services: TarNation (the GAA's enhanced Alumni Directory), special admissions publications, Class Notes with photos and the Alumni Advisor Network.

Advocacy
Competitive faculty salaries and state-of-the-art facilities are critical for the University to retain its world-class ranking and to preserve the value of a Carolina diploma. The GAA-sponsored Tar Heel Network supports the University's goals and priorities through advocacy with legislators.

Connections
GAA member dues support reunions, pregame events, local Carolina Clubs, lifelong learning programs, online lectures and other opportunities for alumni to stay connected to campus, classmates and UNC's world-class faculty.

Representation
Carolina's largest constituency is its alumni base of more than 250,000. General Alumni Association leaders serve as the voice of the alumni and represent alumni concerns and priorities to the University administration.

Membership in the General Alumni Association is open to all graduates, former students, current students, parents and friends. Every member is entitled to all membership privileges and benefits of the Association.
