Achieve your lifelong learning goals with award-winning programs offered by your General Alumni Association. GAA members receive tuition discounts on many of the educational programs. Listen to Enrichment Seminar Audio from Spring Reunions 2009 Carolina College for Lifelong Learning programs (designed for local alumni and the Chapel Hill community) expand your knowledge in subjects ranging from the arts to current events through classes, lectures, book discussions and study trips:
Online programs provide the opportunity for members to enjoy enrichment events held on campus that they could not attend. Audio archives of these programs (including programs on World War II, international crises, North Carolina history as well as spring commencement speeches) and several special reports are available. Adventures in Ideas (for alumni and friends interested in an educational weekend trip to Chapel Hill) are seminars on campus that allow you to explore interesting and important cultural, moral and social topics for the perspectives of the humanities. Civil War Programs are an overwhelmingly popular series of courses that provide a comprehensive understanding of the War Between the States including the key figures and signficant events. Field studies allow an in-depth look at cities and battlefields that played a significant role in the war. Think Fast Forums (for local alumni and the Chapel Hill community) are timely discussions by UNC faculty on breaking events that dominate the public conscience. Past forums have addressed the crisis in Kosovo, electoral issues of the 2000 presidential election, the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks and the implications of the war in Iraq. Local Carolina Clubs also provide lifelong learning opportunities by offering periodic lectures, gallery tours and cultural performances. Take advantage of local club-sponsored activities and participate in your neighborhood's cultural and intellectual life. Tar Heel Travel Programs provide the opportunity for alumni and friends to seek adventure, travel with tradition and to learn more about the world with fellow Tar Heels. Exclusive access to award-winning UNC faculty is the cornerstone of many of our tours. Some tours also offer a pre-departure Passport Lecture.
