You're a student for only a few years, but your connection to Carolina is for a lifetime. Consider these opportunities to re-connect with the University. It doesn't matter if you live outside North Carolina or have limited free time, your General Alumni Association has just the program for you. Get involved.

CAAP Volunteers

The Carolina Alumni Admissions Program (CAAP) is a partnership between the General Alumni Association and the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.  This joint venture aims to enhance recruitment by building relationships among alumni and prospective students across the country.

Carolina Clubs

Carolina Clubs are groups of UNC alumni and friends living in the same geographic area who want to remain involved with the University. The General Alumni Association recognizes and supports Carolina Clubs all across North Carolina, the United States and internationally, because we value the fact that clubs provide a unique UNC connection for alumni no matter where they live.

  • Become a Carolina Club leader
Each Carolina Club exists because of the interest, initiative and leadership of local alumni volunteers. Consider joining your local club's leadership committee. You will have the opportunity to meet and work with other alumni volunteers to plan the type of activities that interest you most. Simply find your local club leader's contact information on the Web.
  • Start a new Carolina Club
If there is not an active Carolina Club in your area and you would like to find out more about how you can help start a new club, please contact us at clubs@unc.edu and we'll send you more information.

RAMpage/Homecoming Weekend

Tar Heel born or Tar Heel bred — either way, Carolina is in your blood.  RAMpage Weekend brings back Tar Heels from across the years to re-experience UNC. Whether you're cheering for the Heels or climbing the Bell Tower, there's something for everyone during this weekend each fall.

Reunions: Classes and Alumni Groups

Looking to plan a reunion but aren't sure where to start? Let us help! The GAA welcomes the opportunity to assist alumni, from a particular group (affinity reunion) or specific class (class-based reunion), reconnect with one another through various alumni reunions. Reunion events have been as simple as a cocktail reception to a weeklong schedule of events.

  • If you are interested in planning a class-based reunion, call Linda Rainey '95 (MA) at (919) 962-3576 or send an e-mail to reunions@unc.edu.

  • If you are interested in planning an affinity reunion, call Tanea Pettis '95 at (919) 843-9694 or send an e-mail

Service Program: Travel That Feeds the Soul

The GAA periodically offers alumni the opportunity to take a week and make a difference. Work with and learn from local people by assisting with their development projects. During this tax-deductible service program, you can experience a meaningful way to spend your vacation within the environs of a unique culture. Come lend a helping hand with your fellow Tar Heels.

New Orleans Voluntour, Nov. 23-28, 2008
During the week of Thanksgiving, join the General Alumni Association as we venture to the Big Easy to help in the areas hardest hit by Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
