Religion has often taken center stage in America's political conversations. With the elections of 2008 focusing on issues of morality, separation of church and state and Barak Obama's personal beliefs, it is a perfect time to review the relationship between the American preoccupation with race and its complex religious history. Starting with the Salem Witch trials and continuing to today's debates about gay marriage, join anthropologist Tim McMillan for a spirited conversation.

Lecturer: Tim McMillan is adjunct assistant professor and associate department chair in the Department of African- and Afro-American studies. He is a three-time graduate of UNC and won the Tanner Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching in 2007.
