
Author Paul Cuadros will lead a discussion about the changing face of the American South, Latino immigration and demographic change. Cuadros will discuss how immigration is impacting the South, access to education, the recent backlash against immigrants and other issues relating to migration. Cuadros will be joined by former players of the Jordan-Matthews soccer team. There is no charge to attend. Light hors d'oeuvres will be provided compliments of the General Alumni Association. Cash bar will be available. Register online no later Thursday, Nov. 12. Lecturer: Paul Cuadros is an award-winning investigative reporter with more than 15 years of experience. A graduate of the University of Michigan and Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism, he has focused his career in journalism writing and reporting on issues of race and poverty. He has written for "Time," Salon.com and "The New York Times." In 1999, he was awarded an Alicia Patterson Foundation Fellowship to write about and report on the impact of emerging Latino communities on the rural South. In 2006, his book A" Home on the Field" (HarperCollins) was published examining this issue. In 2007, he joined the UNC faculty in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication.
