Trashy Art

Jar lids, bottle caps, coffee stirrers, corks and the tops off detergent bottles. A mandala is a geometric design used in Hinduism and Buddhism as a meditation aid. This one, on the floor of the atrium in the FedEx Global Education Center, was made by people from the campus and community using items that can be recycled and those that are destined for the landfill. They had help from Durham recycle artist Bryant Holsenbeck. All the leftovers were collected by the Global Cup Cafe, which is in the Global Ed Center. Photo by Sarah Arneson '96
