Begin your tour of the Pacific Northwest wine region with a stay in Spokane, the urban heart of the Inland Northwest. Embark on the American Empress and stay the night in Clarkston before following the Snake and Columbia Rivers through Washington and Oregon where you’ll sample the vintages of the stunning Columbia Valley AVA, nestled on the same latitudes as the famed Burgundy and Bordeaux regions of France.
Along the way, a legendary piece of American history comes to life in Sacajawea State Park, the 1805 campsite of fabled explorers Lewis and Clark and the famous Shoshone Indian guide to whom the park owes its name. Explore The Dalles, a picturesque frontier town known as the former end of the Oregon Trail, before delving into the fascinating Columbia Gorge Interpretive Center Museum. Cruise into Astoria, one of the oldest cities west of the Rockies; before disembarking the American Empress in Portland, gateway to the Willamette Valley and its world-famous Pinot Noir.
Note: Tour schedule is subject to change due to local conditions. Many excursions in this program involve an element of walking as some of the finest attractions are located in areas not closely accessible by motorcoach.
