Experience the opulence of the age of czars on this eight-night adventure through Moscow and St. Petersburg. In Moscow, stride across Red Square, wonder at St. Basil’s swirling domes and discover the city’s beautiful Metro stations.
Inside the Kremlin walls, glimpse gilded crowns, carriages and Fabergé eggs. Take a guided walk in Novodevichy Cemetery, the resting place of notables including Chekov and Khrushchev. Then, travel by high-speed rail to St. Petersburg, Russia’s cultured “window to Europe,” where you’ll marvel at lavish cathedrals and cruise along its pretty canals. Visit Peterhof, the palace of Peter the Great, and Catherine Palace, the splendid summer home of the Romanovs.
Watch dancers warm up at the Saint Petersburg Theater Classic Ballet School, and enter the celebrated State Hermitage Museum early to admire artistic masterpieces. Throughout your journey, local experts share insights about Russia’s culture and heritage. Enjoy a country lunch and vodka tasting, a generous meal plan featuring wine with dinner and first-class accommodations.
We offer the Tar Heel Travel program as a service to our alumni and friends of the University. As travel is a GAA member perk, we require one traveler per room to be a member of the General Alumni Association in order to be eligible to travel. For more information or to join the GAA, contact the membership office at (800) 962-0742 or join online.
Note: Tour schedule is subject to change due to local conditions. Many excursions in this program involve an element of walking as some of the finest attractions are located in areas not closely accessible by motorcoach.
Please review all tour documents carefully, especially visa, vaccine and health and safety information. Dietary accommodations cannot be guaranteed. Please contact the tour operator directly if you have any concerns participating in the tour.
All 2021 prices and itineraries (including port order) are tentative and subject to change; final pricing adjustments may occur after the release of marketing materials.
