Whether for recapturing ancestral heritage or simply discovering a beautiful and poignant part of the world, this small group tour, limited to 24 travelers, offers ample opportunity for enlightenment and enjoyment.  Both leisurely and comprehensive, it provides a generous overview of four fascinating nations.  The 16-day journey begins in Poland’s capital, Warsaw, the phoenix city reconstructed after World War II.  Sightseeing here includes the faithfully rebuilt Old Town and moving visits to the Auschwitz and Birkenau concentration camps, along with independent exploration and a private classical piano recital.  With the next three nights in Krakow, tour the city, including its Old Town, which boasts Europe’s largest medieval square; and the Wieliczka Salt Mine, a virtual underground city carved from salt.

Travel through the snowcapped Tatra Mountains to Budapest, Hungary’s capital, to get acquainted with the “Paris of the East” with its splendid architecture and lively café culture during a three-night stay.  Journeying on along the scenic Danube Bend, visit Szentendre’s fascinating ceramic museum and picturesque Neszmély en route to beloved Vienna.  Highlights of the three-night sojourn here include a classical music performance and visits to the storied Opera House and majestic Schönbrunn Palace.  Take an excursion to the renowned Vienna Woods and the health spa town of Baden.  A three-night stay in elegant Prague completes the journey, with touring of the medieval Old Town, the celebrated Castle District, and the historic Jewish Quarter.  Experience Germany’s cosmopolitan capital, brimming with art, culture, and history, with an optional 4-day/3-night post-tour Berlin extension.
