Enjoy a morning with Tar Heels at this fun and educational event for the whole family at Maple View Agricultural Education Center. The day will include a hayride, guided barnyard tour and “all about the dairy” tour. After the event has concluded, meet up with fellow Tar Heels down the street for a tasty treat at Maple View Farm Ice Cream.

The tour will begin promptly at 11 a.m. please plan to arrive at least 10 minutes early. Find more information about each event below.

Please note that this event will take place mostly outdoors. In case of inclement weather, this event may be canceled. Any cancellations will be communicated via email to all registrants and will be posted on this website. 

Carolina Alumni members who attend at least four Triangle Summer Series events get the new Hark the Sound duffle.

About the Tour

Hayride Tour

The hayride goes around the perimeter of the farm and through the middle. The ride stops at four locations. The driver gets off and narrates info about the specific locations.

All About the Dairy Class

The dairy science room offers facts and activities related to Maple View Farm. Attendees will learn about the milking process, bottling process, butter production and ice-cream production. The classroom offers insight and interesting facts about dairy products, as well as behaviors, care and growth of Holsteins.

Guided Barnyard Tour

A Maple View staff member will walk you through the barnyard, give information about the animals and answer any questions. Animals may include: a goat, miniature donkey, miniature horse, sheep, llama, Jersey cow and calf, Holstein calf, ducks, rabbit and chickens. Hand washing is required after the barnyard visit.
