Bio: Patricia Parker

Patricia Parker is Chair of the Department of Communication at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she is also an associate professor of critical organizational communication studies and Director of the Graduate Certificate in Participatory Research. Professor Parker’s research, teaching, and engaged scholarship focus on social justice leadership and decolonizing organizational communication processes. She is co-editor (with Larry Frey) of the University of California Press book series, “Communication and Social Justice Activism.” Her book, Ella Baker’s Catalytic Leadership PraxisA Primer on Community Engagement for Social Justice Leadership is due out in the series in 2020. That volume, along with her book, Race, Gender, and Leadership, other published scholarship, administrative work and social entrepreneurial activities, inform a sustained focus to intervene in problems at the intersections of power, identity, agency, and organizing.

Lunch Details

Lunch at The Carolina Club begins at 12:00 p.m. No jeans, please.  Lunch includes three courses plus coffee and tea.

Lunch price: $28; Carolina Alumni member price $18

Cost is refundable minus a $3 processing fee for any cancellation made one week prior to the event. Any cancellations made six to two days prior to the event are subject to a 50 percent cancellation fee. No cost is refunded if the cancellation is made the day before, or the day of, the event.
