IU 63 – UNC 50. That loss in the national title game in March of 1981 spurred a team that featured Sam Perkins, James Worthy, Matt Doherty, Jimmy Black and a freshman first listed as Mike Jordan. They began the 1981-82 season with thirteen consecutive wins then dropped two of their next five. They never lost again. Join us as we relive the excitement of a season that gave Carolina its first NCAA basketball title in 25 years and Dean Smith his first, too.
