Chanda Douglas-Ward '90

Chanda Douglas-Ward ’90 was born in Washington, D.C. and reared in Rocky Mount, N.C. After high school, she attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She received her Bachelor of Arts in public policy analysis with a concentration in health. After gaining work experience, she returned to school and completed an MBA degree from Elon University.

Chanda is a Human Resources Professional with more than 25 years of experience. She has worked for several organizations to include the North Carolina Biotechnology Center, the American Heart Association, two community health centers, an educational development organization, Saint Augustine’s University, Catapult (formerly known as Capital Associated, Inc.) and Vance Granville and Alamance Community Colleges. She was recently named Human Resources Director for the V Foundation in Cary, N.C. Chanda has an affinity for non-profit organizations and has built a successful career working for them. In addition to her work, Chanda is active in the local chapter of the Society for Human Resources Management and previously served as the president for four years. She was also a two-time chair for the state of N.C.’s annual Human Resources Conference and served as district director and conference liaison for the North Carolina Society for Human Resources Management’s Board. She is a certified professional by the Society of Human Resources Management and held the PHR designation given by the Human Resources Certification Institute for several years. Chanda is often sought after to share her Human Resources knowledge and expertise. She serves on a variety of professional and volunteer boards providing Human Resources guidance.

Chanda is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Jack and Jill of America, Incorporated and The Links, Incorporated and serves at her church, Orange Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Durham, N.C. She is married to Gregory E. Ward, and they have one son, Jonathan D. Ward, who is a senior at Cardinal Gibbons High School. They currently reside in Durham, N.C.
