Esosa Asemota is a first-year student at Carolina. Although she has not yet decided on her major, she is a pre-medicine student pursuing a career as a physician. She spent two of her high school years at Terry Sanford High School in her hometown of Fayetteville before graduating from the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics in Durham. After doing research programs in plant biology and reproductive fertilization, it was at this school that her passion for sickle cell research was sparked and she looks forward to continuing this research at Chapel Hill.

In high school, Esosa served as a student ambassador and a tutor to primary school students. She was a member of the varsity tennis team. She played the violin with both the Terry Sanford Orchestra and with her church’s worship team. At NCSSM, she was a vocalist with a Praise Band and the Colors Gospel Choir. She enjoys serving her community and has spent countless hours volunteering.
