2016 Light on the Hill Society Peppers Scholar
Taylor M. Doggett ’20
Taylor is a first-year Honors student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she plans to major in Public Policy and minor in Social and Economic Justice. Taylor graduated from Hammond School, a college preparatory day school in Columbia, South Carolina. During her tenure at Hammond, Taylor was instrumental in bringing the school’s first TEDx conference to her campus, founded the first young feminist club and served as editor of the 50th edition yearbook.
Taylor has maintained a keen interest in civil rights and social justice activism throughout her young adult life. She counts Ida B. Wells, James Baldwin, Michelle Alexander and Bryan Stevenson, the founder of the Equal Justice Initiative, as some of her heroes and role models. She plans to eradicate systematic racism, dismantle mass incarceration and save the world before she retires.
