Jaslyn B. Piggott ’15
2011 Light on the Hill Society Scholar
Innovative, multifaceted, energetic and dedicated are just a few words that can be used to describe Jaslyn. Combining leadership with service, Jaslyn established Project Purses for battered women in her hometown of Roanoke Rapids. The project involved placing a positive message in donated purses and delivering them to victims of domestic violence.
Jaslyn balanced a busy extracurricular schedule and her academics while also being an active volunteer in her community. Her volunteer work extended to her church, Oak Grove Baptist Church, Halifax Regional Medical Center and Hannah’s Place Women’s Center for Abused Families.
A leader in the classroom, church and community, Jaslyn strives for excellence in everything she does while keeping a positive attitude and bringing out the best in others, holding true to her belief that “the most wasted of all days is one without laughter.” Continuing in her commitment to help others in any way she can, Jaslyn plans to enter the field of medicine as a pediatrician.
