2015 Light on the Hill Society Scholar
Merghani A. Elboshra ’19
Merghani currently undecided in his field of study, but strongly believes the support and resources at Carolina will help him find his aspiration. He graduated from the Early/Middle College at GTCC Greensboro with an associate of arts degree and a high school diploma.
Since the summer of his junior year, Merghani has been heavily involved with the National Conference for Community and Justice (NCCJ); a human relations organization that promotes understanding and respect among all cultures, races and religions through advocacy, education and dialogue. He served as a counselor at NCCJ’s signature ANYTOWN program in the summer of 2014 and 2015. In his final year of high school, Merghani served as student body president and incorporated many of the values he learned with NCCJ into his school programs in order to create unity and inclusion among all students.
