We can’t wait to celebrate you in Chapel Hill, May 10-13, 2018. Start the conversation with fellow classmates in the ’68 Facebook group.

Dear ’68 Classmates:

Welcome to our class page. Here you will find up-to-date information about our 50th reunion. Yes, it has been 50 years since we all got that cherished diploma and headed away from Blue Heaven to seek our fortune. Now it’s time to return, remember, reconnect and renew our bond with Carolina. The class of 1968 was special and with your help we want our reunion to be especially meaningful.

Plan to come to Chapel Hill, May 10-13, 2018, to be with us, celebrate and enjoy a fabulous weekend including:

  • Wonderful social gatherings: a Thursday evening reception, Friday night social and the big banquet and dancing party with The Embers on Saturday night.
  • Great enrichment sessions: We already have a commitment from our classmate Taylor Branch, a Pulitzer Prize winner and MacArthur Fellow, to come and speak about his forthcoming book. We will plan a number of enrichment sessions, and we will be interested in your input as to the most relevant topics and which alumni, professors and UNC leaders you want to hear from.
  • A chance to experience the campus through tours of what’s new, what’s old and what’s happening. We will have time on the schedule for you and your family to visit campus attractions such as Morehead Planetarium, Ackland Art Museum, Kenan Stadium, the Arboretum and other iconic sites.

We will also experience the privileges to be conferred on our class (by reason of our longevity and fidelity to Carolina). We will be guests of honor and inducted into the Old Students Club during the annual luncheon on Saturday afternoon. On Sunday morning, we will join the 2018 commencement processional into Kenan Stadium adorned in Carolina blue commencement gowns. See what a blast the class of ’67 had with this on-field event. It should be just as much fun for us. Look here for more details from the GAA that will provide additional information, seek your input and offer opportunities for your involvement in planning and carrying out our big event. Check back here also for an updated list of those who are registered to attend.

We look forward to seeing you in May!

Don Johnson, Permanent Class President, with the volunteer members of the Steering Committee: Anita Brame, Linda Butler, Cliff Butler, David Kiel, Della Michaux, Bill Travis, Mal Watlington, Roger Werner, Buddy Wester, Judy White, Leon Woodruff

P.S. Join our ’68 Facebook groupand make a comment. Send an invitation to this group to your Carolina friends on Facebook, or send them a personal email letting them know you are coming to the 50th reunion in May, and you’d like to see them there, too.

Jennifer joined the GAA in January 2017. She is thrilled to be back at Carolina and loves bumping into fellow Tar Heels on her (almost) daily walks around campus. In her spare time, Jennifer can be found chasing her daughters with her college sweetheart Shawn ’08, dining with friends at their favorite restaurants, playing the piano or getting lost in a good book.
