American Studies 50th Anniversary

50th Anniversary Celebration

Greetings from Chapel Hill and the Department of American Studies.

We are so thrilled for our 50th Anniversary Celebration and Reunion on April 11-12, 2019. The festivities will bring together our American Studies, American Indian and Indigenous Studies, Southern Studies, and Folklore community. We’ll make music, share art, tell stories of our past and future, talk together over food—all here on your Carolina campus.

Featured participants include Lonnie Holley, Tift Merritt, Brendon Greaves, Mike Taylor, and Michelle Lanier. Drs. Joy Kasson, Towny Ludington, and other current and former professors will be here. We’ll go behind-the-scenes of the Ackland Art Museum and Wilson Library’s archives, and we’ll have plenty of time to visit.

Register here; follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. We hope you will consider making a gift as part of our 50th Anniversary Challenge, and start packing your bags for a Spring trip. We can’t wait to see everyone.
