Consider This... Forums

With Consider This…, your GAA hopes to enable our community to gain a greater understanding about issues that have the potential to impact our state and nation.

The most recent Consider This… forum was with James H. Johnson Jr., William R. Kenan Jr. Distinguished Professor of strategy and entrepreneurship and director of the Urban Investment Strategies Center. Johnson spoke on the six disruptive demographic trends are dramatically transforming all of our social, economic and political institutions.

Think Fast Forums

Think Fast forums, designed for local alumni and the Chapel Hill community, are timely discussions by UNC faculty on breaking events that dominate the public conscience. These forums are complimentary and open to the public. Past forums have addressed:

  • 2016 Elections
  • Boston Marathon bombing
  • Crisis in Kosovo
  • Electoral issues of the 2000 presidential election
  • Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks
  • Implications of the War in Iraq
  • Economic meltdown of 2008
  • Gulf oil spill
  • Political protests in Egypt of 2011
