The GOAT Erin Matson Named Field Hockey Coach |
Erin Matson ’22, UNC’s most decorated field hockey player and arguably the greatest women’s player of all time, has been named Carolina’s next head field hockey coach. She follows Karen Shelton, who announced her retirement in December.

Ida B. Wells Society Leaves Journalism School |
The Ida B. Wells Society for Investigative Journalism, which works to increase and retain reporters and editors of color in the field of investigative reporting, announced Feb. 2 that it is relocating from UNC’s Hussman School of Journalism and Media to Morehouse College in Atlanta.

María R. Estorino, who had been had been serving as interim since May, has been appointed vice provost for University Libraries and University librarian.

Judge Dismisses Students’ Lawsuit Seeking Refunds From COVID Campus Shutdown |
The State Court of Appeals ruled that a trial judge was correct in dismissing a lawsuit filed by then-UNC System students seeking refunds for tuition, housing and fees after in-person instruction was canceled in spring 2020 because of COVID-19.
