Registration will open in early September.
Carolina alumni parents, grandparents and family members of currently enrolled students are invited to the George Watts Hill Alumni Center for a Carolina tradition, the Legacy Pinning Ceremony, to welcome current UNC students into the Carolina family. Be a part of this tradition, which honors past and present Tar Heels, and celebrates the ties that bind your family to ours. Light refreshments will be served during a reception following the ceremony. Dress is Carolina classy, and photos from past ceremonies may be viewed for reference. Photographer will be available at both ceremonies.
Seniors and senior parents will receive an email in early September to sign up. All other current students and their parents will be sent an email in mid-September. Student emails will be sent to their UNC email address. If you do not receive an email from the Carolina Alumni office, please contact us at alumnievents@gaa.unc.edu.
Please note, registration will be made in the name of the alumna/alumnus pinning the student. Students may complete the registration form for their alumni family member. The registration should include everyone who will attend, including the student.
- RSVP will be open in early September. All current students will receive an email with registration information by mid September.
- Price is $15 per person. This event fills quickly, so if you need to cancel, please email alumnievents@gaa.unc.edu so other families can attend.
- There will be no on-site registration available.
- One member of your group will need to pick up your packet in the lobby of the Alumni Center which includes your legacy pin.
- Doors open 30 minutes prior to the ceremony. Please note that this event has high attendance numbers and there is no reserved seating. Please do no skip seats in rows.
The ceremony will be in the Alumni Halls on the second floor of The Carolina Club. The Carolina Club is adjacent to the George Watts Hill Alumni Center, 106 Stadium Drive. Parking is available in the Rams Head Parking Deck at 104 Ridge Road for $1.75 per hour. Level 3 parking exits to The Carolina Club and the Alumni Center. Limited free parking is available along Stadium Drive near the George Watts Hill Alumni Center on weekends. Accessibility entrance is through The Carolina Club. All other guests may enter through the lobby of Alumni Center to pick up your legacy pin packet.
