• 31,331 applied for admission

• 8,917, or 28.5 percent, were admitted

• 3,988, or 44.8 percent, are expected to enroll

• 57.8 percent female, 42.2 percent male

• 17.9 percent of those enrolling are the first in their families to go to college

• Admitted freshmen come from 94 N.C. counties, 38 states and the District of Columbia and 24 other countries

• 800 students are entering Carolina as transfer students

Of those who reported their graduating class ranks:

• 42.3 percent were in the top 10

• 13.6 percent were first or second

• 77.4 percent were in the top 10 percent
