Dr. Linda West Little ’62 (MSPH, ’68 PhD) served in 1980 and 1981 as an administrative judge for the US NRC atomic safety and licensing board panel which conducted public hearings on the potential restart of Three Mile Island Unit 1, twin of the Unit 2 reactor involved in the highly publicized Mar. 1979 accident.

Robert T. Bryan (AB, LLB ’16) reached the United States July 30 after having been held in China by Chinese Reds for 16 months. An attorney in Shanghai and onetime municipal advocate, Bryan was arrested by the Reds in February, 1951 as a “spy.”

Q: Thomas Clayton Wolfe ’20 returned to the U.S. from a year’s tour of what European countries and what did he do there?

Thomas Clayton Wolfe ’20 has recently returned to the United States from a year’s tour of European countries. The purpose of his trip to Europe was that he might study and write. The countries visited were France, Italy and England. While abroad he wrote a play.

Q: Dr. B.E. Washburn ’07, employed by the International Health Commission, reported that though it was hot where he was stationed, “flies are to be found for only a few weeks during the year. In attempting to account for their sudden disappearance he has reached the conclusion that there must be another insect on the island which destroys the fly. If this is found correct, the suggestion is made that the insect be imported in America.” Where was Washburn stationed?

Dr. B. E.
