Show Your Tar Heel Pride

OK, so maybe you don’t have a sweet Carolina blue ride, that’s alright, because in these five states you can display your Carolina pride with your license plate.



Visit your local Georgia DMV office to purchase your UNC license plate.


Maryland drivers must first obtain a license plate request form from Carolina Alumni. We can send you the form and then you must submit it to the Maryland Motor Vehicle Authority. Simply contact us at the email address below to request the form. Please include your current mailing address, and we will send instructions with the form. These forms cannot be emailed.

North Carolina

North Carolina drivers may check with the N.C. Department of Motor Vehicles for more details on obtaining a plate. Please keep in mind that all plates will begin with the letter U.

South Carolina

Thanks to the support and participation of more than 400 Tar Heel alumni and fans, the state of South Carolina is now producing a license plate with the UNC logo. To get a a plate, simply visit your local DMV office.


Virginia drivers can check with Citizen Services at the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles.
