Thursday, May 7

5:30 – 8 p.m.
Ackland Art Museum Reception

Ackland Art Museum
Begin Reunion Weekend at a private reception at UNC’s renowned Ackland Art Museum. Drop in at your convenience anytime between 5:30–8 p.m. to enjoy savory and sweet light hors d’oeuvres along with beverages including beer, wine and coffee. Reunion check-in packets will be available for pick up. Museum staff will provide a brief talk about current museum exhibits at 6 p.m. This event is sponsored by Galloway Ridge at Fearrington.

Class of 1955 – 60th Reunion Dinner
The Carolina Club, George Watts Hill Alumni Center
The class of ’55 will gather for dinner at The Carolina Club for a 60th reunion banquet. A reunion photograph will be taken before dinner. Detailed parking recommendations will be sent to all registrants. Dress is coat and tie for men and dresses or evening pantsuits for ladies. The first 75 registrants may enjoy this full dinner with wine included for only $10/person. This reduced event price was made possible thanks to an alumna classmate whose generous donation will cover most of the banquet costs. Cost to attend after 75 have registered will be $65/person.

Class of 1960 – 55th Reunion Dinner

The class of ’60 will gather to celebrate their 55th reunion during dinner at The Carolina Club. A reunion photograph will be taken before dinner. Detailed parking recommendations will be sent to all registrants. Dress is coat and tie for men and dresses or evening pantsuits for ladies. Cash bar will be available throughout the event. Cost is $55/person (optional $65/person to include wine).


Friday, May 8

Parking for all Friday events will be available at Rams Head Parking Deck next door to the Alumni Center. Parking fees set by the UNC Department of Public Safety will apply. Detailed instructions and maps will be sent to all registrants.

Old Students Club Luncheon

Class of ’65: Welcome to this wonderful Carolina tradition. James Lee Love (class of 1884) donated an endowment to the GAA to fund an annual gathering of the “Old Students Club” for all who have reached or passed the 50th anniversary of their graduation year. Wade Smith ’60 will be the featured speaker. Each graduate from 1965 and earlier along with one guest is welcome to attend at no cost. Space is limited, registration required.

Reunion Tours | Guided Walking or Bus Tours of Campus
Both tours depart from the George Watts Hill Alumni Center
The walking tour is a pleasant way to revisit the older sections of main campus, although there are plenty of new sites to see along the way. The bus tour is the best way to see the new and familiar of main campus while also learning about the ever-expanding southern edges of UNC.

GAA Vintage Slideshows (continuous showings)

Andy Griffith ’49 narrated an award-winning slideshow used by the GAA during the 1970s. Charles Kuralt ’55 narrated another award-winning slideshow used by the GAA during the 1980s. Both shows feature beautiful and historic photographs and entertaining narrations which make them fun to view even decades later. Drop in and out at any time throughout the day to view as much of these vintage shows as you wish.

A long-standing Reunion Weekend tradition, this casual barbecue social is now held at the University’s newest student dining facility. It’s not the “student cafeteria” you remember. Barbecue buffet with vegetarian options, desserts, nonalcoholic beverages plus two drink tickets included for $25/person. Live music; casual attire.


Saturday, May 9

Parking for Saturday events will be available on Stadium Drive and other University lots if available (for free) or at Rams Head Parking Deck (for a fee). Additional lots near The Carolina Inn will be reserved for Saturday evening. Detailed instructions and maps will be sent to all registrants.

Join us for this annual luncheon during which the GAA’s 2015 Distinguished Service Medals will be presented to Dr. H. Shelton Earp III ’70 (MD, ’72 MS), Robyn S. Hadley ’85 and Thomas W. Ross Sr. ’75 (JD). Greetings from Chancellor Carol L. Folt; entertainment from the UNC Clef Hangers. $30/person. Dress is business casual.

Visit Davis Library to explore the world through the Liquid Galaxy, an immersive Google Earth Display, see 3D printers in action and learn how the Libraries enable UNC students, staff and faculty to explore emerging technologies.  Visit Wilson Library to browse yearbooks while listening to country, rock, rhythm and blues music from 1965 provided by the Southern Folklife Collection along with special exhibitions in the North Carolina Collection Gallery and in the Saltarelli Exhibit Room.

Class of 1965 50th Reunion Cocktails, Dinner and Dancing
The Carolina Inn
The evening will begin with a cocktail reception followed by an elegant seated dinner in the Hill Ballroom. After dinner, enjoy live music from Smitty Flynn and the Rivieras while enjoying a dessert buffet with coffee; cash bar available. Dancing will be encouraged. Dress is coat and tie for men and dresses or evening pantsuits for ladies. Cost includes pre-dinner cocktails, dinner with wine, desserts and coffee for only $45/person. The cost per person was greatly reduced thanks to donations from class of ’65 Reunion Patrons.

Class of 1970 45th Reunion Event

Reminisce with fellow members of the class of ’70 and friends during this casual reunion event. Enjoy a variety of food selections with a southern flair from The Carolina Club’s new chef served al fresco (weather permitting). Cash bar. In the class of ’70 reunion tradition, expect special appearances and entertainment (e.g. musicians and classmates Bland Simpson and Jim Wann) throughout the evening. Conclude the evening with the option of dancing to a live band at The Carolina Inn (shuttles will be provided). Casual dress. $47/person.


Sunday, May 10

8 – 9:30 a.m.
Class of ’65 Commencement Processional

Don’t miss this opportunity to participate in a wonderful Carolina tradition in which you join the processional into Kenan Stadium for the 2015 Commencement ceremony. This event is consistently rated by past 50th reunion participants as a favorite event of the weekend. Parking instructions and all necessary details will be provided in reunion packets. Spouses and guests are welcome to join the fun for coffee and socializing in our gathering spot (5th floor Kenan Football Center) and will have a perfect vantage point to watch the procession. Following the processional, which should end before 9:30 a.m., you may depart or enjoy the rest of the Commencement program as you wish.

Ackland Art Museum

Open since 1958, the Museum’s permanent collection consists of more than 17,000 works of art, featuring North Carolina’s premier collections of Asian art and works of art on paper (drawings, prints and photographs), as well as significant collections of European masterworks, twentieth-century and contemporary art, African art, and North Carolina pottery. Bell Tower Climb
Friday, May 8, from 3–5:30 p.m.
Enjoy a rare opportunity to go inside the Bell Tower, climb the stairs and enjoy the views.

Campus Y

For more than 150 years, the Campus Y has been at the heart of UNC. Its mission was and is the pursuit of social justice, and the Y was a social hub on campus for decades. Come see how the building looks following renovations completed in 2007.

University history lives in Wilson Library. Browse yearbooks while listening to country, rock, rhythm and blues music from 1965 provided by the Southern Folklife Collection. Visit special exhibitions The Hidden Campus: Archaeological Glimpses of the UNC Campus in the Nineteenth Century in the North Carolina Collection Gallery, and Before They Were Diamonds: Highlights from the Eastern Kentucky African American Migration Project, presented in the Saltarelli Exhibit Room by the Southern Historical Collection. You will also find an exhibit of 100 Years of Carolina Alumni Review covers.

Women’s Basketball Museum & More

Specific hours will be provided at check-in
Visit the state-of-the-art women’s basketball museum, as well as new trophy cases and memorabilia recognizing the history of the gymnastics, volleyball and wrestling teams with video screens throughout the arena. The hallways are wood lined and decorated in graphics with Carolina’s most outstanding athletes, with over 100 All Americans in UNC’s 28 sports.
