All students who have purchased a class ring this semester are invited to participate in the fall class ring ceremony. The registration link will be emailed to students who purchased a class ring. Registration opens early October.

Students and alumni who purchase a class ring from the official collection will have the opportunity to have their ring presented to them during the Official Class Ring Ceremony. Held once each semester at the George Watts Hill Alumni Center, the Official Class Ring Ceremony allows students and alumni who have purchased and earned the right to wear a Carolina class ring to gather to celebrate their accomplishments and to show their Carolina pride.

Attendance at the ceremony is optional for alumni, but students are required to attend in order to receive their class ring. If scheduling conflicts arise with the ceremony date and time, students will be able to pick up their ring after the ceremony date.

Carolina Alumni sponsors the official class ring program.

I can’t attend the ceremony. Can I pick up my ring before or after the ceremony? You are unable to pick up your ring before the ceremony to keep the significance and importance of the ceremony intact for students wishing to attend. If you cannot attend the ceremony, you may pick up your ring with Balfour at UNC Student Stores after the ceremony.

Where is the ceremony held? The ceremony is held at the George Watts Hill Alumni Center on the corner of Stadium Drive and Ridge Road in Chapel Hill.

Where can I park? You may park in the Rams Head Parking Deck on Ridge Road, adjacent to The Carolina Club.

What should I wear? Dress for the ceremony is Carolina classy. Sport coat or blazer and slacks (or suit) or dress or dressy skirt and blouse is suggested.

How long will the ceremony last? The ceremony is expected to last about an hour.

What time should I arrive? Doors will open at an hour before the ceremony. The ceremony will begin promptly.

On the registration form, does total guest count include the student receiving the ring? Yes. Your total guest count on the registration form should include the student receiving the ring and all family/friends attending with the student.

Do I need to alert someone if my total guest count changes before the ceremony? Yes. After you have registered to attend, if you add a guest, or a guest is no longer able to attend the ceremony, please email in order for us to accommodate as many students and guests as possible.

Will photography be allowed at the ceremony? Photography will be allowed. In addition to personal photography, Balfour will hire a professional photographer to take a photo of each student receiving their ring. These photos will be available for viewing and purchasing online the week after the ceremony.

What if something is wrong with my ring? Balfour representatives will be on hand after the ceremony to discuss any issues you may have with your class ring.

What if I missed the registration deadline? Can I still attend?  Registration to attend the ceremony is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Space is limited, and this event typically fills to capacity. There will be no on-site registration available.
