GAA Board Elections Add Online Option

UNC General Alumni Association members have a new online option in 2017 for voting for candidates for the association’s Board of Directors. Here’s what everyone who is a Carolina Alumni member as of Jan. 1, 2017, needs to know:

vote_online■ If you have an email address on file with the GAA, look for an email message in early January detailing this option along with a list of the 2017 candidates. Your email message will contain a link allowing for one vote to be cast.

■ If you do not have an email address — or you have one, but it’s not in your alumni record, so the GAA doesn’t know about it — you automatically will be mailed a print ballot. You do not need to request one.

■ Not sure which applies to you? Go to alumni.unc.edu/CheckYourEmail.

■ Any member — including those with access to email — can vote by print ballot if preferred. If you’re not already going to be mailed a print ballot (see second item above) and want one, print ballots may be requested after Jan. 1 by contacting Paula Poe ’89 at (919) 962-7051, paula_poe@unc.edu or P.O. Box 660, Chapel Hill, N.C. 27514-0660.

■ The deadline for online voting is 5 p.m. March 31.

■ Completed print ballots must be received at the George Watts Hill Alumni Center, P.O. Box 660, Chapel Hill, N.C. 27514-0660 no later than March 31. Facsimile replies are not accepted.

All Carolina Alumni members are eligible and encouraged to vote in each race, including races representing areas other than those in which the member lives. The chair for 2017-18, James E. Delany ’70 (’73 JD), and those elected from the 2017 ballot assume office at the Annual Alumni Luncheon on May 13. The GAA’s annual meeting is set to begin at 9 a.m. April 8 at the George Watts Hill Alumni Center.
