The Class of 2019

  • 31,955 applied for admission

  • 9,467, or 29.6 percent, were admitted

  • 4,081, or 43.1 percent, are expected to enroll

  • 59 percent female, 41 percent male

  • 19 percent of those enrolling are first-generation college students, coming from families where a parent has not graduated from a four-year school

  • Admitted freshmen come from 97 N.C. counties, 44 states and the District of Columbia and 20 other countries

  • 749 students are entering Carolina as transfer students

Of those who reported their graduating class ranks:

  • 42 percent were in the top 10

  • 14 percent were first or second

  • 77 percent were in the top 10 percent
