Read MoreMoving up three positions from last year, Carolina in June was named fourth among the nation’s public universities in The Princeton Review’s 2024 list of “Best Value Colleges.”
To determine the rankings, Princeton Review divided 209 best-value schools into public and private categories. Only Georgia Tech, Cal-Berkeley and Virginia ranked ahead of UNC among public schools.
Cal-Irvine, Cal-San Diego, Michigan, Cal-Santa Barbara, North Carolina State University and Texas-Austin rounded out the Top 10 in the public category.
“We are extremely proud of our ability to provide a high-quality and nationally competitive education while remaining affordable and accessible,” Interim Chancellor Lee Roberts told Media Relations. “Our goal is to ensure that each of our outstanding students can gain a college degree without the burden of college debt.”
Carolina ranked second on the list of public universities for financial aid. Based on student survey responses to questions about community service, student government, sustainability efforts and on-campus student engagement, UNC ranked ninth for best schools for making an impact.
Last fall, Carolina was ranked the No. 4 public university in the country by U.S. News & World Report.
