9/11 Remembrance Ceremony

Memorial Garden near Alumni Center, 106 Stadium Drive, Chapel Hill

The UNC General Alumni Association held a ceremony for the six alumni who were killed on 9/11. The event at the Memorial Garden outside the Alumni Center and the observance began at 8:46 a.m., the time when the first plane flew into the World Trade Center. Chancellor Carol L. Folt attended the ceremony and was joined by Doug Dibbert, president of the UNC General Alumni Association. UNC first-year student Dylan Melisaratos spoke briefly about his uncle, Christopher Quackenbush, a 1979 UNC graduate and investment banker who was among those who lost their lives.
