Chancellor Search Committee Adds Evening Forum

The Chancellor Search Committee has added a third evening forum on Thursday, Nov. 15, to provide another opportunity for members of the University community and others to share input about the search for the next chancellor.

The forum, the last in a series of three, will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Gerrard Hall. Anyone who plans to speak should arrive early to sign up.

This session will follow other forums on Oct. 26 and 30 that targeted alumni, affiliated foundation representatives, community leaders, the general public, faculty, staff and students.

The Nov. 15 session will be open to anyone — from the Carolina community, the local community or the general public — who wants to share the qualifications they hope to see in the next chancellor.

Committee Chair Nelson Schwab III ’67 said the evening session was designed to reach those who were interested in sharing their thoughts in person but had not been able to attend the previous afternoon forums.

“We have received excellent, thoughtful feedback from the community,” Schwab said. “We are hopeful this evening session will provide a convenient way for others to participate in the search process.”

Chancellor James Moeser announced in late September that he would step down June 30.

Those who cannot attend the forum are encouraged to send in their views or nominate candidates by contacting the search committee via e-mail at chancellor_search@unc.edu or writing to Chancellor Search Committee, P.O. Box 229, Chapel Hill, NC 27514-0229.

More information about the search is available online, where video will be posted from all of the committee forums.
