Post’s Woodward to Kick Off Business School Lecture Series

Bob Woodward, best-selling author and assistant managing editor of The Washington Post, will kick off the spring season of Kenan-Flagler Business School’s Dean’s Speaker Series on Jan. 17.

Woodward will give the Weatherspoon Lecture at 5:30 p.m. in the McColl Building’s Maurice J. Koury Auditorium. The lecture, which is free to the public, will be followed by a reception.

Overflow seating will be provided in nearby classrooms, with a live video feed from the speech.

The Weatherspoon Lecture was created with a gift from longtime University and Kenan-Flagler supporters Van ’54 and Kay Weatherspoon. The series provides lectures by outstanding visiting scholars and world leaders from politics, education, business and government.

Woodward has worked at The Washington Post since 1971 and has received nearly every American journalism award. The newspaper received the Pulitzer Prize in 1973 for reporting Woodward and Carl Bernstein did on the Watergate scandal. Woodward also was the lead reporter for The Post‘s articles on the aftermath of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks; The Post received the National Affairs Pulitzer Prize in 2002 for this coverage.

Woodward has co-written or written 10 No. 1 national best-selling nonfiction books, more than any contemporary American writer. His latest book, The Secret Man, reveals long-awaited answers behind Deep Throat, the source who uncovered Watergate during the Nixon presidency.

In 1992, The New York Times called Bob Woodward “the most famous investigative reporter in America.”

Free parking will be available in the business school parking deck. A large crowd is expected, so an RSVP is required to attend. To RSVP, call (919) 843-7787 or e-mail kfbsrsvp@unc.edu.
