Click in with us virtually for our six-part series, Downtown Chapel Hill: Then, Now and Always, as we remember what our favorite college town was like during our time at Carolina. Each virtual talk will be led by a Chapel Hill business owner with deep historical knowledge and will include a few other personalities behind your favorite spots.

This episode will focus on Black-owned businesses in Chapel Hill with Delores Bailey and Kevin “Kaze” Thomas ’12.

Delores is the executive director of EmPOWERment, Inc. EmPOWERment, Inc.’s mission is to empower individuals and communities to achieve their destiny through community organizing, affordable housing and grass roots economic development. Delores has been an outspoken advocate for residents of Chapel Hill for many years.

Kaze is the owner of VibeHouse405, a live music venue on Franklin Street. He also hosts “Inside Voices” on WCHL radio. “Inside Voices” is a platform dedicated to Black men and women, people of color and allies.
