The Director of the Ackland Art Museum, Katie Ziglar ’79, will share the highlights of Ackland’s collection, what is currently happening at the Ackland and future plans for the museum, including a new building.
Tucked behind Top of the Hill on Franklin Street lies the only public university art museum in the country with a collection of Rembrandt drawings and arguably the strongest collection of Asian Art in the Southeast. It puts on 200 annual programs, and engages more than 3,500 K-12 students and 10,000 Carolina students across 30 departments at the undergraduate, graduate and professional school level each year in carrying out its mission of “the art of understanding.” Carolina’s Ackland Art Museum has existed since 1958, and it is on an incredible upward trajectory under the leadership of Museum Director Katie Ziglar ’79.
