Celebrate with Us, Virtually

Celebrate with us May 27-28 as we go back to Carolina, virtually. We’re inviting our Spring Reunions Weekend friends to click in with us for two days of virtual events – all complimentary – that are sure to keep sweet memories of Carolina on your mind. View the schedule of events below.

Thursday, May 27

4 p.m. (EDT) UNC Physical Master Plan (Enrichment Session)
Complimentary event

What changes to the physical plan of campus and its structures are in the offing? Will the character of the campus change? Will it be getting larger? Decentralizing? What is the fate of some of our favorite (and least favorite) buildings? What role will UNC play in the future of downtown Chapel Hill? These and other topics will be addressed by Evan Yassky, executive director of facilities planning and design, and University Architect.

5:30 p.m. (EDT) Cocktails, Mocktails and Memories
Complimentary event

Classes of ’55, ’56, ’60, ’61, ’65, ’66 and ’70 are invited to a mocktail/cocktail happy hour class with chef and owner Katie Coleman of Durham Spirits Company before joining classmates for conversation and reminiscing. You’ll be making a “Tar Heel Strawberry Smash” cocktail or mocktail using the ingredients below. Be sure to shop for your ingredients in advance to follow along during the class. This event is a great way to warm up for May 2022.

“Tar Heel Strawberry Smash” Supply List

  • Bourbon*
  • Optional: Canton Ginger Liqueur OR Cointreau (Grand Marnier or Triple Sec)**
  • 2 or 3 perfectly ripe strawberries
  • Mint or Basil
  • 1 lemon (or 2 if making the mocktail)
  • Honey
  • Optional: Fresh Ginger

 * Katie will be making this cocktail with bourbon.  However, gin and tequila will also work nicely.
**Nice to have NOT a need to have.  Don’t need both (either the ginger liqueur or the orange liqueur)

Jennifer joined the GAA in January 2017. She is thrilled to be back at Carolina and loves bumping into fellow Tar Heels on her (almost) daily walks around campus. In her spare time, Jennifer can be found chasing her daughters with her college sweetheart Shawn ’08, dining with friends at their favorite restaurants, playing the piano or getting lost in a good book.
