BAR Milestone Class Challenge
On March 3, 2024, Harvey E. Beech ’52 (LLB), Carolina’s first Black graduate, would have become a centenarian. Throughout this year’s reunion we’ll recognize that milestone with the kickoff of the All Things 100: Milestone Class Challenge.
We’re challenging all Golden Rams (Black alumni who graduated more than 50 years ago) and BAR Heels from the classes of 1974, 1979, 1984, 1989, 1994, 1999, 2004, 2009, 2014 and 2019 to support this year’s UNC Black Alumni Reunion by participating in the challenge.
Gifts from this campaign will help facilitate reunion events that support the Light on the Hill Society scholarship (a scholarship created in 2005 to support Black students attending Carolina), maintain reasonable event prices and ensure the continued growth of one of Carolina’s greatest Homecoming traditions – the Black Alumni Reunion. We’ll recognize the class with the highest participation and the class with the highest gift total (view sponsor levels and amenities).
Make a gift of $100 in honor of Harvey E. Beech’s 100th birthday, a gift in an amount honoring your anniversary or class year (e.g., $50 for your 50th class anniversary or $1,979 for your class year). All amounts are appreciated and will help the committee continue to provide an outstanding reunion experience for students past, present and future.
