Letter From Danny Davis '71, Class President

Dear Classmates of ’71,

We hope you and all our classmates from the class of ’71 will join us and our 50th Reunion Steering Committee in returning to Chapel Hill, Oct. 20-23, for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to celebrate our years together at Carolina. This is a unique chance to reconnect with many old friends and to recall, share and relive great memories from our time together in the “Southern Part of Heaven.” See the full schedule at alumni.unc.edu/1971, and keep up with friends in the official class of ’71 Facebook group.

We are committed to creating meaningful, daily social activities, as well as several interesting, stimulating enrichment sessions. We’ll also reserve free time each day for close friends, teams, clubs and alumni from various residence colleges, fraternities, sororities, and other student organizations to make their own special plans during the reunion weekend.

We ask of each of you to do one thing for us: Please check with three to five of your favorite friends from our Chapel Hill days to confirm that they are aware of our reunion and have received this third class-wide email. If not, please forward it to them and ask that they email their current contact information to Allison Deem ’10, coordinator of alumni reunions, at reunions@unc.edu. Updated emails and mailing addresses will ensure that they receive future notices regarding our reunion and will allow the GAA to update its records.

The GAA maintains, for our benefit, an online Alumni Directory which is easy to access for Carolina Alumni members and can be invaluable in locating classmates. Find it at alumni.unc.edu/update, or search online for UNC Alumni Directory and follow the simple steps to register on the site. You will then be able to locate Carolina friends from any class and in any location.

Lodging suggestions are listed on a button below. The hotels/motels are listed which are closest to campus and downtown Chapel Hill. We purposely chose an open date on the football schedule believing many more hotel/motel rooms would be available, at affordable prices. We suggest that you review and remain mindful of the relevant cancelation policies.

We are all excited at the prospect of seeing you in Chapel Hill in October for our 50th. We have so many treasured memories from our years at Carolina. Being together again will be great cause for celebration! Please call your friends, make your reservations and monitor our reunion website for details. Thank you!

With warm regards,

Danny Davis, President
