It was on this day, 150 years ago, the Federal Army under Major-General William T. Sherman entered Atlanta.  The occupation ended a military campaign that began four months earlier.  Join us for a look at the leading players and major encounters that made this drive through northwestern Georgia so compelling.

Lecturer: Fred W. Kiger ’74 (’77 MAT) leads our Civil War battlefield study programs and teaches several GAA courses each semester. He is the creator of the field guide The Civil War: A History of the War Between the States (Workman) and has two degrees from UNC, a bachelor’s in history and a master of arts in teaching with an emphasis in history.

Please call Douglass Payne at 919- 962-0313 to register over the phone for classes or the field-study trip, or mail in your completed registration form (below).

Read Kiger’s recommended reading list.
